I live in Prague, and entered this shop for the first and last time. I was searching for a specific book. They had only 1 left, dirty and damaged. Plus, the shop assistant was rude beyond words.

Great University book store, books in Czech on history, philosophy, medicine etc. They have also an English section, books on Prague and fiction.

Cheap postcards of Prague right at the entrance, 3 bookcase sides with books in English, with plenty of translated classic Czech literature - Hasek, Havel, Kafka, Kundera. Art albums, Czech history, just what a tourist might need in this wonderful city.

A rare friendly and beautiful space in the otherwise touristy area. Nice selection of books in English. We bought our Prague souvenirs here.

I have walked in, lured by the "October 20% discount on own-label books". I love the English translations of Czech classics published by UK Press, so I walked in, picked up one (Rozmarne leto / Summer of Caprice) with a "250,-" pencilled in and walked to the cashier. The cashier asked for 380 Kc. So I paid that with a card without paying much attention. When I walked out, I first noticed the pencilled in price and looked up the internet price. Megabooks sold the same hardback for 214 Kc. So I returned and asked about the "20% discount". The cashier got very angry and said that I surely made a mistake. Then called the manager, who got downright offensive, saying that they do not care about internet prices and do not care about discounts and that the fact that the book has "250 Kc" pencilled in does not mean they cannot charge 380 Kc. Overall, I think that this was the single worst experience in any shop in Prague in a couple of years.
