Kostel nechal postavit hrabě Jan Karel Straka z Nedbalic, tehdejší majitel hornoteplického panství. Většina zařízení je barokní, v kostele je však i část zařízení z původního dřevěného kostela. Hlavní vchod je osazen mohutnými dubovými dveřmi z roku 1918 s figurálními řezbami ze Starého a Nového zákona. Baroque new-build property was made in 1724 on the site of a wooden church from the 15th century. Count Jan Karel Straka of Nedbalice, the former owner of the Hornotice estate, funded the church. Most of the facilities are Baroque, but inside there is also part of the original wooden church. The main entrance is fitted with massive oak doors from 1918 with figural carvings from the Old and New Testaments.
