Byl dokončen roku 1924, i když jeho stavba začalo jíž o jedenáct let dříve. Nejdříve se vybudoval jez, po něm následovala stavba vodní elektrárna. V roce 1924 byla dokončena i plavební komora, a celé vodní dílo bylo uvedeno do provozu. Zdymadlo navrhl architekt Antonín Engel.
