An impressive view of Prague Castle opens from the Kolovrat Palace (especially impressive in winter night lighting, see photo)

Along with the other palaces on this side of the present Valdštejnská Street, the Kolovrat palace is situated on lands that belonged to the Benedictine Monastery of St. George at the Prague Castle. Since the 16th century the land was parceled and sold out. The Kolovrat Palace was built at the end of the 18th century. The construction was commissioned by the wife of nobleman Heřman Jakub Černín to the outstanding architect Ignác Palliardi. The palace (already owned by the Kolovrats) was rebuilt in Neo-Baroque style to its present form in the 19th century. The building has been the seat of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic since 1996 and is therefore not open to the public.

Vybavení a uspořádání dobové. Přítomné dobové fotografie a popisy nastiňují tehdejší situaci ve státě.
Visited at the Open Day. The tour was interesting and without a guide. Dominating two lounges, Pink and Green, which was part of one of the important milestones of our perhaps war history. Equipment and arrangement of period. The contemporary photographs and descriptions present the situation at that time in the state.

This palace is a bit hidden, but it is still a beautiful sight to behold. Make sure to visit this one at least once.
