Interesting very old church, which necessarily needs repairs.

Well-kept inside, not too much from the outside, masses are held here.

The church in the cemetery is closed most of the time.

Beautiful baroque church is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The first mention of the Gothic church dates back to 1264. Later, like other monuments, it was modified in the Renaissance and Baroque styles. There is a rectory next to the church.

Originally a Romanesque church of St. Jiljí in the village of Bezděz is the oldest functional church still standing in the Liberec region. It was probably built in the last quarter of the 12th century at the neighboring royal court (today the seat of the NPÚ and the Bezděz castle administration). The first reports of the existence of a church in the castle grounds are from 1264. The oldest Romanesque part of the building is a nave and a presbytery built of sandstone blocks. While the southern half of the church is probably really original, the northern part was probably rebuilt using the original block masonry. It was rebuilt and modified several times in the Renaissance and Baroque form. It belongs to the Roman Catholic parish in Bezděz, and services are held here once every 14 days on Sundays and every Wednesday. Classical sacral building from the 13th century. The church is located near the information center and the municipal office. The tooth of time has already signed on the overall condition.

A place breathing history. We had an explanation from the pastor. Nice interior. A copy of the statue of the Virgin Mary of Montserrat - the so-called Black Madonna, the original is in Doksy. Just a view from the cemetery wall to the castle spoils the sports field ... it didn't work!
