První zmínka o těchto místech je zapsána v panovnické listině z roku 1233, ve které je zmiňován i Petr z Roztok. Podle archeologických nálezů ovšem bylo území Roztok osídleno nepřetržitě od mladší doby kamenné do raného středověku, což dokládají lokality Levý Hradec a rozsáhlé slovanské osídlení na břehu Vltavy, u železničního přejezdu ve směru na Prahu. Ačkoliv to dnes v některých částech obce mnohdy tak nevypadá, celá oblast je silně svázána s počátky Českého státu. The village of Roztoky has a rich history, including the first Christian Premyslid residence in Bohemia - Levý Hradec. The first mention of these places is recorded in the royal charter of 1233, which also mentions Petr of Roztoky. According to the archaeological finds however the territory of Roztoky was inhabited continuously from the Early Stone Age to the Early Middle Ages, as evidenced by the locations of Levý Hradec and the extensive Slavic settlement on the Vltava River at the railway crossing in the direction of Prague. Although it does not look like this today in some parts of the village, the whole area is strongly tied to the beginnings of the Czech state. Roztoky can boast a really rich history, which includes the first Christian Přemyslid seat in Bohemia - Levý Hradec. The first mention of these places is written in the royal deed from 1233, in which Peter of Solution is also mentioned.
