St. Augustine pillar #11, northern side (the bridge side following the river flow). Author: Ferdinand Maxmilián Brokoff in 1709, donor: Augustinian monks from the Church os st. Thomas (a copy from J. Dušek in 1970, the original is placed at Gorlice room in Vyšehrad casemates). The statue depicts the patron saint of the Augustinians in the bishop's attire and the favorite flaming heart in hand as a symbol of religious zeal. The statue represents St. Augustine walks through the heretical books with the names of heretics whose ideas he disproved. St. Augustin learned well and enjoyed life pretty much. He lived an immoral life. Under the influence of the prayers of his mother St. Monika (she prayed for him for 18 years) and the fiery sermons of St. Ambrose he decided to change his life completely and he was baptized. He became a bishop in 396. He wrote the rules (ordinances) that are the basis of many Church orders. The problem of authorship of this statue is the same as the opposite statue of St. Nicholas of Tolentino (click the place to read). Sv. Augustin (kopie J. Dušek, r. 1971, originál umístěn v Gorlici) pilíř č. 11, severní strana (povodní), autor: Jeroným Kohl či J. B. Kohl, r. 1708, donátor: augustiniáni u sv. Tomáše; Socha znázorňuje hlavního patrona augustiniánů v biskupském úboru a s oblíbeným planoucím srdcem v ruce, symbolem náboženské horlivosti. Socha představuje sv. Augustina jak šlape po kacířských knihách se jmény heretiků, kterých učení vyvrátil. Sv.

Dušek, 1971, original placed in Gorlice) Pillar No. 11, north side (flood), author: Jeroným Kohl or J. B. Kohl, r. Tomas; The statue depicts the main patron saint of Augustinians in a bishop's robe and with a popular blazing heart in his hand, a symbol of religious zeal. The statue represents St. Augustine treads on heretical books with the names of heretics whose teachings he refuted. St. Augustin learned well and enjoyed having fun. He led an immoral life. Under the influence of the prayers of his mother St. Monica (she prayed for him for 18 years) and the fiery sermons of St. Ambrose turned and was baptized. In 396 he became a bishop. He wrote the rules (orders) on which many ecclesiastical orders are based. The problem of authorship is the same as in the opposite statue of St. Mikuláš Tolentinský.
