St. Vitus - the patron of the Czech country pillar # 14, northern side (the bridge side following the river flow). Author: Ferdinand Maxmilián Brokoff in 1714, donor: Matěj Vojtěch Macht of Löwenmacht The statue depicts a young Roman martyr (adopted as a Czech patron) as a legionnaire with a princely crown and a martyr's palm. The lions and snakes are creeping from the rock he stands on, but they do not hurt him according to the legend, which is suggested by the lion licking his leg. Lions also symbolize the name of the donor, dean of the Vyšehrad chapter. Sv.
