Fantastic day, walking around Konopište Castle. We drive 45 minutes to spend the day afternoon here, walking around this amazing landmark, soaking in the history. It's worth the drive, unique sights and one can feel the centuries of history here, as you can in many of the wonderful places in the Czech Republic.

Personally I wasn't soo impressed by the castle, but the gardens next to it, with the peacocks, were really nice. And when all those roses bloom....the view should be spectacular! And the smell....those roses just smell wonderful! My kids were very happy to see so many and from so close, and were very excited about feeding the ducks from the water nearby. And the train was also a very nice touch to the place :).

Ok I'll admit, the place is beautiful, and there is a lot of things here, but if you go there like I did to see the amazing, renowned historical weapons collection (one of the best in Europe), prepare to be let down. Not because it isn't good, on the contrary its amazing, one of the better ones I've seen. Yet, you're going to spend quite a bit to see it, and have around 5 minutes looking at them. The rest of the tour (which you have to take) will be looking at some things which when taking the armour and weapons tour, you really don't think you'd be seeing - such as bedrooms and a church. In fact, most of the time will be spent in such places. You can't just walk around either, you get ferried around and spending too long looking will result in you being castigated because the tour guide wants to move on. The options for the tour are as follows: armoury, living places, and the hunting trophies. I didn't visit the others as I'm not so interested in them, and it's approx 10 euros per each one. Overall, hugely let down. They have such a magnificent collection of weapons and armour, you just won't get to truly appreciate it.

Amazing castle, the nearby gardens are huge so you can find a place where you can just sit and hang out. The tickets for the castle tour is fine (240 Kč/person, kids and seniors have a sale). There were multiple beautiful peacocks. Near the castle entrance is a exposition where were predatory birds. Parking is near the castle and just 60 Kč for a day. The nearby "rose garden" is gorgeous during the spring. I absolutely recommend a visit to this castle.

Very nice. To take some.pictures Is uncomfortable that the guide soesnt speak English and yiu need to use the audio guide. When using audio you loose some of the guidance tones and expertise.

The castle has a history of Franz Ferdinands and his apartments, weapons chapel etc. A particular tour takes up to an hour and costs around 250kc per person (plus 60kc for the Audio device if you want an English translation) You will see the old weapons used, his bedroom, Church, some garments, etc and the history behind them. Aside that, there is a nice botanical garden arround full of roses and peacocks. Its worth the visit.

Visiting Konopiste Castle is an excellent idea for the weekend day. The castle is pretty good, and the excursion is well. There is also a lake where you can spend time just walking around.
