The New Town Servite Monastery was founded around 1360 as one of the six local monasteries, established as part of the founding of the New Town of Prague by Charles IV. The oldest designation for this church and the whole monastery was "in viridi" - "on the green". Later, the name was changed to "Na Trávníčku" (on the small lawn), probably according to the surrounding green meadows in the valley of the Botič brook. The convent was created around already existing chapel, on the site of which the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary was later built. During the Hussite riots, cannons of Praguers were to be aimed from the church tower against the royal fortifications at Vyšehrad. During the 16th century, the local convent disappeared for some time, but after the Thirty Years' War, it was restored in 1669 and the buildings were renovated. The monastery disappeared after 1783 as a result of the Josephine reforms. Then the object was used by the imperial army. In the years 1858-1863, the buildings of the former monastery were repaired and regotized according to the plan of the architect Bernard Gruber.
