Wonderful monastery with great paradise garden and unique flooded cellar :-)

Few tourists, interpretation adapted to castellan your requirements. Good to connect with the climb to Mount Rip.

The monastery was founded for the new order of Augustinian canons by Bishop John IV. from Dražice. The foundation stone was laid in 1333 and the construction lasted over 20 years. The monastery complex consists of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the building of its own convent. The convent originally had a square cloister with a garden of paradise, with a chapter hall in the east. Throughout the 14th century, the Roudnice order showed active activity. At the end of this century, 30 canons were registered here. The first blow hit the monastery in 1421 during the campaign of Jan Žižka from Trocnov from Litoměřice to Prague, when it was destroyed and burned by the Hussites. The monastery succumbed to fire several times, but it did not undergo a major reconstruction until 1725, when it was rebuilt by the most important North Bohemian architect of the time, Octavian Broggie. If you are in Roudnice, the premises of the church and the monastery are definitely worth a visit. From June to September, it offers guided tours for a voluntary entrance fee every day of the week from 10:00 to 17:00 (on weekends from 11:00) every hour. The starting point is in front of the entrance to the temple. After the tour, you can refresh yourself and buy small gifts in the nice Monastery Club. The Augustinian monastery, whose foundation stone was laid in 1333 and was built for more than 20 years, is a beautiful example of Czech Gothic. 1421 was burnt by the Hussites and after repeated fires was reconstructed in 1725 in the Baroque Gothic style. Under the monastery rises the ore spring, which gave the city a name.

Wrongly little known tourist destination. Amazing architecture, the opportunity to look behind the scenes. And an incredibly nice, educated and erudite guide. The price is rather symbolic

Every year there is a great student theater festival OLDstars on the ROUD. I recommend.

A beautiful spiritual place with a very nice and sympathetic guide who took us even to places that do not usually show up. The tour was gladly supplemented by the pastor, who answered our questions about the history of the monastery. Very nice place and nice people.
