Beautiful church with an adjacent cemetery. Beautifully lit at night, with a nice view.

První přímá zmínka o kostele pochází z roku 1380 a přímé potvrzení jeho existence nalézáme v seznamu farních kostelů náležejících k říčanskému arciděkanství z roku 1384. The first historical mention of Modřany is connected with the Vyšehrad chapter, to which Soběslav II. donated two Modřany farmsteads and a vineyard in 1178. It is probable that after acquiring the property, the chapter also built a tabernacle here. The Roman Catholic parish church is surrounded by the Modřany cemetery and the rectory building stands in its immediate vicinity. The church was built sometime in the second half of the 13th century. It is not clear whether the core of the existing building eventually replaced an older Romanesque sacral building, of which nothing has survived. The first direct mention of the church dates from 1380 and direct confirmation of its existence can be found in the list of parish churches belonging to the Říčany archdeaconry from 1384. The village and the church were destroyed by both the Hussites in 1420 and the Saxons in 1631. 17 years later, the building was repaired and expanded by the Cistercians of Zbraslav, which gave it its current appearance. In the years 1881-1883, a stone cross was added in front of the church. The Stations of the Cross beside the church was opened in 2015 and leads through the park to the bell tower. It consists of fourteen granite reconciliation crosses with reliefs made by sculptor Miroslav Beščec from Dobříš. Each cross is different and each has a symbol, based on the Christian tradition from the condemnation of Christ to the burial.
