Matyášův altán

Matyáš's gazebo stands on the corner of the enclosure wall of Prague Castle and is part of the southern garden Na Valech, which was created between 1920 - 1931 by merging several older gardens according to the design of Josip Plečnik. The round Renaissance building with a turret from 1614 is at the southernmost and easternmost point of the garden. Matthias's gazebo is sometimes incorrectly called the Trumpet Tower. In its vicinity is a sculpture The Good Shepherd by Josef Kalvoda from 1922. The gazebo was painted in 1848 by Josef Navrátil and in the pavilion there is also a wooden ceiling with 39 emblems of countries that belonged to Austria - Hungary. The Baroque house "U hvězdy" (Stará myslivna), which was built between 1667 and 1669, is connected to the garden wall. The late Baroque facade (today's form) and the extension of the 2nd floor were built after 1780.
