Immediately after the liberation of Prague on 13 May 1945, an improvised monument to the victims of the Prague Uprising in the form of a cross made of charred beams from the Old Town Hall was erected in front of the destroyed Astronomical clock. The city of Prague made a new memorial plaque made for the fallen in May 1995 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the uprising. It is hung on the eastern side of the Old Town Hall above the place of mass execution of twenty-seven leaders of the estate uprising of June 21, 1621.
