The original wooden church was built in the late 12th or early 13th century, the oldest written mention of it dates back to 1352. The building was seriously damaged by fires in 1515, 1624 and 1744. The fundamental reconstruction of the town church was carried out in 1545 by the owner of the estate Georg von Schleinitz. The church gained its present appearance in 1755. The church is of a single nave, rectangular ground plan, with a pentagonal presbytery, a prismatic tower and a chapel. The interior of the church is mainly pseudo-Romanesque. The tombstones on its eastern side remind us of the existence of the old cemetery around the church. Since the 1990s, a gradual overall reconstruction has been in progress.
