W	What’s in your pantry? on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very beautiful Cathedral. You must go upstairs as it gives you a better view. The spiral staircase is so nice and it gives you a chance to go through the attick. From there, you will see the beautiful pillars of the church.

The building was damaged during the Hussite war and the monastery damaged by fire. The restoration of the church was finished in the early 18th century. It’s a very large building and with a cold, impersonal feel despite the ornate decoration and many windows. Do the walk up to the attic above the side domes to see the nail-free woodwork and the view down into the church.
m	macedonboy on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist is a cathedral and UNESCO building in Kutna Hora. It’s about 5 minutes walk from the much more popular and touristy Sedlec Ossuary. It’s also a lot quieter than the ossuary, which makes a visit much more enjoyable. When you enter the church, you get a placard detailing the main points of interests of the interiors and there’s also descriptions on the boards just after the ticket office with lots of history of the church. Inside, the church is a Czech Gothic design, mixing tate Gothic with Baroque and the distinctive intertwined ribbed vaults characteristic of Czech Gothic. Much of the church was only restored in the early 2000s and the side chapels are mostly bare. The high altar is richly decorated with a beautiful Baroque painting of the Assumption on the ceiling above. Flanking the front of the high altar are shrines of St Felix and St Vincent. The side chapel worth seeing are the Chapel 14 helpers in Indigence and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Sedlec, both of which are richly decorated in Baroque and for me the highlights of the visit. One of the nice features of the church is a chance to climb to the upper balcony which takes you through the attic area before leading into the balcony proper. The stairwell up to the balcony are beautifully designed with a spiral shape and the attic area has a mini exhibition. Well worth a visit.

The monks were supposed to build a monastery here, which became the first and oldest monastery of this order in the Czech Republic. + pretty architecture and art + interesting view on the construction of the ceiling through the attic + art collections all over the church and attic
